The Online Deliberative Democracy Consortium

ODDC is a Working Group of the Deliberative Democracy Consortium.

Goals

The ODDC seeks to help the Deliberative Democracy Consortium (DDC) by:

  1. Assisting in the development and use of Internet Technologies for consortium communication, both internal and external
  2. Advising the consortium on how to capture the benefits and avoid the pitfalls of these technologies in large-scale deliberations
  3. Identifying core features of a national infrastructure, and an outreach strategy to integrate these elements into existing deliberative efforts
  4. Expanding the visibility, versatility, and use of deliberative-democracy.net
  5. Communicating the aims, accomplishments, and issues represented by the consortium within and beyond its network
  6. Establishing and maintain a robust internet presence, including an html e-newsletter, library, and links
  7. Growing the consortium by recruiting others who are interested in deliberation through the technology angle
  8. Fostering better communication between deliberation folks that are technologists and non-technologists
